THE DAIRY SUPPLY CHAIN REVISITED
A seminar on perspectives of market mechanisms in the dairy sector

On 3 February 2010, the European Dairy Association (EDA) organised a seminar on “The Dairy Supply Chain Revisited” which reviewed the perspectives of market mechanisms in the dairy sector.
The seminar has focused on the current issues of coping with increased price volatility in a less regulated environment and on the ways to move forward for the different partners in the European dairy sector.
The seminar featured several presentations which are available below:
- Dairy farming: challenges for an entrepreneurial farmer by Mr. Hillar Pulk, Dairy Farmer (Estonia)
- Market processes in the dairy ingredients market: a food producer’s perspective by Mr. Daniel Morrissey, Abbott Global Nutrition
- The dairy supply chain in a deregulated market: Insights from New Zealand by Mr. Paul M. Campbell, General Manager (Strategy), Fonterra Co-operative Group
- Case study: The structure in a co-operative dairy by Mr. Åke Hantoft, Vice chairman Board of Director, Arla
- Contractual relations between milk producers and dairies by Susanne Nüssel, Secretary General, VBPM
This session was well attended by representatives from the EU institutions and ministries of Member States, members of the High Level Experts Group on Milk, relevant European associations and other stakeholders.
